Chapter 14 -> Unexpected

I really didnt like this chapter. Thought about posting tomorrow instead but I said I would tonight so here you go...

She just stood there for a few minutes after Safaree walked out and took some deep breaths, before walking towards the kitchen to head out back to the others. She found Candi in the kitchen getting more liquor to bring out back to their friends.

Candi: what's up with you?

She stopped what she was doing and leaned on the counter looking at Nicki

Nicki: Safaree, he walked in on Jhené and I talking

Candi: oooohh... What did he say?

Nicki: Nothing. He heard everything then just left. Candi what am i doing?

Candice walked over and hugged her friend

Candi: *sigh* you're acting on your feelings babe. You've never been one not to and even he knows that. Go home and talk to him.

Nicki: *deep sigh* Ok. May I borrow your car?

Candi: Oh he left you here like that?! Uh uh!.... Keys are in my purse in the living room

Nicki: Thanks. Call you later

Candi: Ok

Nicki left and Candi went back out to the others

When Nicki got home Safaree wasnt there. She searched the whole house and didnt find him. However, her car had been parked in the garage and his was gone. She called his phone several times but he didnt pick up so she left him voice messages. She went to her room for a pillow and her blanket then came back and got comfy on the couch watching TV and waiting for him to come home.

It was a few minutes after 8 in the am when he walked in and found her asleep on the couch. He turned the tv off then went up to go shower. After his shower he got dressed and went back down to make breakfast. He got to the entrance of the living room and saw her, hands over her eyes as she took a deep breath then turn her head and look at him. He didnt flip out on him they just stayed looking each other in the eyes until he looked away. He gently shook his head and walked to the kitchen. She called to him but all he said was "Good morning Nicki" and continued to the kitchen.She got up and went after him. She got into the kitchen and stood in the doorway looking at him.

Nicki: Safaree can we talk? please?

SB: Sure after you shower and we eat

He responded without looking over at her.

Nicki: OK

Nicki said caught off-guard by his calm disposition. She slowly turned on her heels and went to have her shower. After her shower she pulled on one of Safaree's T-shirts from her closet and went back downstairs to teh kitchen where he was making breakfast. She sat at the counter and he place a plate infront of her and then made her a cup of tea. Her giving her her breakfast he made himself a plate and sat. They ate in silence. When they were done eating he cleared the dishes and put them in the dishwasher then turned around to her

SB: you wanted to talk

Nicki: umm yeah... Can we go sit in the living room?

SB: yeah sure

They walked out the kitchen and Safaree took a seat in one of the smaller couches, Nicki sat on the largets one and after several deep breaths began talking

Nicki: I dont even know where to begin.. Safaree you know I love you. I dont want you to feel like you're losing me to Jhené because you're not its just.. I can't just ignore my feelings I-

SB: Wow Nicki *chuckles* so hold a minute.. If this was another guy I would be expected to accept the fact that you can't just ignore your feelings?

Nicki: NO! Faree it's not another guy. We wouldnt even been having this conversation if it was another guy because I have the only guy that I want and that's you. I just with her its different maybe it's because this is something I've always wanted to try or maybe it's just her I dont know I really dont get where these feelings are coming from but I want the chance to explore them. Thats why I wanted to talk to you.

SB: Oh so you want my permission to fuck somebody else what one time, two, ten? and then what Nicki? You already been doing shit with her behind my back so why you asking for my permission now anyway?

Nicki: It was one kiss and I was honest enough to tell you about it

SB: yeah days after.

Nicki: Faree... please can you just-

SB: You know what.. do whatever you want. You dont have to ask for my permission

With that he got up leaving her in the living room and head for the front door. She bit in her bottom lip and looked up at teh ceiling as the tears ran down her cheeks.

Rex: Are you fucking serious??

SB: as serious as i'll ever be

Vince: but why you trippin' though dude? you been knew Nic was freak from day 1.

Rex: and I mean she been turning women down like washed cups dont you think that there must be something different why she's so caught up with this chick?

Vince: and besides you are the reason they met?

SB: so you're saying this is my fault?

Vince: No. I'm saying.. well yeah that's what I'm saying but come on dude. I'd give anything for Lauren to wanna hook up with a girl

Rex and SB gave him a "where the fuck have you been" look

Vince: what?? No fuckin way

Rex and Safaree laughed.

Rex: anyway man back to you *looks at SB* just...We cant make your decision for you but really think about this before you make one.

SB: aight man.. Thanks for the talk

Vince: yall aint shit how you even know bout Lauren?

They both laughed again.

SB: Ima go get some more beers

Jhené: I told you I didnt wanna get between you two. Maybe it's best if we just end this whole friendship right now

She was on teh phone with Nicki and just as she had finished her sentence there was knock at her door.

Jhené: Nicki I have to go there's someone at the door. I'll call you back when whomever it is leaves ok

She hung up and went to answer the door. She was surprise to see him standing on the other side and a bit hesitant to let him in but she did.

Jhené: Can I offer you something to drink?

She asked nervously

SB: No.. but can we talk. please?

Jhené: umm sure

It was 10 minutes to seven when his car pulled up. Nicki was making spaghetti for dinner.  She heard the front door oopen and close but didnt pay it any mind. She figured he was just going to ignore her and go to his room since he was upset. So she went about getting a plate and something to drink from the refrigerator. She was clad only in thongs a fitted t-shirt and her bed slippers.  Her hair was up in a messy bun and she had Whitney on real low.

He walked in with his guest and closed the front door. They looked at each other

SB: smells like spaghetti, go ahead. Ima go up for a bit

He gave her a small smile and she smiled back. She walked to the living room and put her purse on the coffee table and head towards the kitchen. Nicki didnt hear her enter. She stood in the doorway a few minutes watching her by the stove plating her food. She walked up behind her and slowly placed her hands on her waist. Nicki knew it wasnt Safaree because of teh size of the pair of hands. She stopped what she was doing and parted her lips

Nicki: what are you doing?

Jhené kissed the back of her neck.

Jhené: I thought this is what you wanted?

Nicki pulled away and walked to the counter with her plate.

Nicki: didnt you just suggest that we end this? *rolls eyes* how'd you get in anyway?

Jhené: I know what I said Nicki but what did you expect I felt like I was ruining your relationship with Safaree

Nicki: and I told you you weren't all I needed was for you to give me time to sort it out

Jhené: but.. If you didnt work it out how.. why did?

Nicki: I told you earlier what happened didnt I. Look... *sigh* I need some time to really think about this and then we'll see what happens

Jhené: Oh.. ok. I guess I'll go then. I'll just call Safaree back down to bring me home

She said in a small voice and walked out the kitchen leaving Nicki with a confused look on her face. When she got to the living room Safaree was just coming down the stairs

Jhené: can you drop me home please

She said opening the front door and walking out to Safaree's car. Nicki walked in with her plate just seconds after and stopped looking at him.

SB: what happened?

Nicki: excuse me?

She responded with wide eyes.

SB: what happened with you and Jhené? She just asked me to take her home

Nicki: oh so now you're a big Jhené fan.. aren't you the one who doesnt want me seeing her. You curse me out about wanting to be with her then you bring her here all cool and ask me a dumb ass question like that. Since when did you two become big friends again? Huh? You assumed I was gon just go by what you said and not act on my feelings so you thought oh cool lemme bring her over?

SB: will you stop!! I brought her here for you

Nicki: *tilts head to the side* what?!

SB: I thought about what you asked and I dont see why not. I know if it wasnt something you really wanted to try you wouldnt have come to me and talk to me, ask my permission. Besides I knew I was getting with a freak when I started and I am the reason yall met so what the heck. Im cool with you seeing her. I spoke to her earlier and she's really into you, A LOT! so I thought I'd surprise you and bring her over.

Nicki: you're ok with it??

she asked again to be sure.

SB: yup! and by the looks of it you have some making up to do so I'd suggest you put that plate down and go get her before she starts walking or calls a cab

Nicki: I fucking hate you!!

SB: I love you too

When Nicki got outside Jhené was walking down her long driveway towards the gate. Nicki ran after her

Nicki: Né

She called but she didnt turn around. She caught up to her and pulled at her arm causing her to turned around. They stood looking at each other

Nicki: he explained.. I didnt know he came by and spoke to you the last I spoke to him was before he left. Im sorry for my reaction come back inside.. please

Jhené: you dodnt ahve to apologise but we do need to get you inside.. You do remember ur only wearing a thong, t-shirt and soem pink bears on your feet right.. You dod what'd ahppen if the paps got a hold of this image.

She took off her jacket and gave it to Nicki and they head back to the house.

Nicki picked her phone up and read the text that had just come in

*kisses u and gently bites ur bottom lip* I miss you baby acnt wait for saturday - J

Miss you too baby. You still havent told me where we're going on saturday - N

and Im not gonna its a surprise. U'll just have to wait - J

hate it when you keep secrets - N

but you always love my surprises - J

does Faree know where we're going? - N

yup! he helped me out and no he's not gonna tell you so dont even think about it - J

*pouts* yall are meanies - N

I love it when you pout.. you look so cute *giggles* gotta get back to work see you later - J

Nicki got out of bed and went in search of Safaree. She found him in his old room sitting on the bed typing away on his phone. He quickly finished up and put the phone down as she walked over to him. She straddled his lap and kissed him. When she broke the kiss he spoke

SB: Baby I'm not telling you what she has planned

She crossed her arms on her chest and pouted he chuckled

SB: Im not gonna ruin the surprise

Nicki: whatever

She was about to get up when he held on to her waist

SB: uh uh! Not so fast.. I was thinking we could-

His phone rang interrupting his sentence and he answered it quickly. It was a gospel ringtone so they both knew who was calling

SB: hey mom

Carol: Safaree why isnt Onika answering her phone?

SB: she isnt by her phone at the moment. Hold a min

He handed her the phone

Nicki: Hi mom

Carol: hey baby, I called you three times

Nicki: sorry phones in my room we're in another room. But what's up? is something wrong?

Carol: No there's nothing wrong. Just reminding you that Caiah and I are coming down this weekend

Nicki: Oh.. I

Carol: forgot??

Nicki: yeah..

Carol: You promised Onika.. Im not up to dealing with your brother and his tears and complaining all weekend

Nicki: I know mom.. Its cool. The driver will be at the airport to pick you up

Carol: ok.. I love you. Take care and see you soon

Nicki: Love you too mom

She hung up

SB: what happened?

Nicki: Caiah and mom.. Saturday

SB: Ooh! I forgot about that

Nicki: looks like my surprise is gonna have to be rescheduled.

Jhené was very understanding about Nicki's mom and brother visiting and rescheduled for the next weekend however, Nicki asked her to stay the weekend at her place so she could get to know her mom and brother, she told them Jhené was a very good friend. It was all going well until that same Saturday night Caiah walked in on her and Jhené kissing in her home theater...
